Delicous Concoctions

So lately I have been cooking more and more without recipes. It is really exciting and liberating! So far I have made apple crisp, bannana bread, spanish rice and shortbread cookies all without a recipe. I just kind of mix things together that I know will work and just go with the flow. Make it work!

My other Favorite Dog

I love dahshunds. They are cute, friendly and very intelligent. Without the proper training they become controlling and they rule the house. I prefer a minature dachshund with short or a wire haired dachshund.

God Loves a Terrier

Terriers are one of my favorite dogs. In general they are smart, energetic and cute. I hope to one day own a terrier. These are some of my favorites, in alphabetical order.
The Carin Terrier is incredibly cute and energetic but would require grooming.

The Glen of Imaal Terrier or Irish Glen is very cute, requires very minimal grooming but it is a rare breed there are only 500 registered in the US.

The Norfolk Terrier is hardy and lives for 12 to 15 years. It's coat requires weekly brushing and ocassional trimming. I am not usually a fan of the short tail but this dog is undeniably cute.

The Parson Russell Terrier is incredibly energetic, smart and loving dog. If not properly trained and socialized they can be difficult dogs. They typically live for 15 + years but some common health problems are joint problems and eye problems. I would wait until I have a yard to get this dog.

The West Highland White Terrier, or Westie makes a great companion they travel well and make a great watchdog. They are general healthy and live to 15+ years
I tried to find this song on playlist.com but couldn't. I think it is hilareous and perfect for this entry, I will warn that there is one swear word in it so use your own judgement. It is from the movie Best in Show.

Dog Brain

My family has always had a dog as long as I can remember, as a child I pretended to be a dog all the time! There are pictures to prove it. The first dog I remember was Cricket, she was off white and semi-fluffy she was basically a mut. After her we had Alice, she was black with short scruffy hair, another mutt. Then we had Vince, who was black with a little orange and white coloring around the face and chest. He looked sort of like a doberman pinscher. I loved that dog. He slept at the foot of my bed and was my best friend and protector. While we still had Vince my parents got Homer, a Dauschaund. As a puppy he was very playful and cute. He is a needy and cuddly dog. After Vince died we got Margie a Lhasa-Apso. She is mostly white with a few black spots. Her skin is slightly pink and covered in black spots. While I was at school my parents got two chocolate lab puppies, Molly and Blusephorous. Molly is very energetic and loves to run. Blue is calmer and more patient. He is very smart and loves to cuddle.
Being a single college student that lives in an apartment I rarely see dogs. I desperately miss dogs so I have been watching dog shows whenever they are on. I have learned a lot about breeding and different dog breeds. It inspire me to do some research to find the perfect dog for me. Well there are thousands of different kinds of dogs and some are better for families, apartments or hunting. So for the next few blogs I will discuss my favorite types, most unusual and dogs that I would like to have one day. I hope to get a dog after I have graduated and settled somewhere that will allow me to own a dog.

Best Friend Adventures!

Saturday Jeanette and I had quite the adventure in the big city of Idaho Falls. We shopped at Book City, PetCo, Down East, Circut City(only because they are going out of business) and of course Target. I am really excited about the books I got at book city, One Fat Summer and Chicks With Sticks. After all that shopping Jeanette and I desperately needed food and sugar. So I gave in and we headed to McDonalds. They do not have very many vegetarian options. The only thing I could find that I could eat was french fries and a salad. Plus it was way too expensive. Seriously I don't know how people can afford to eat there! So we headed to Taco Bell, which is way cheaper and has a variety of vegetarian options. Jeanette and I decided that those golden arches are just way too pricey for us.

Saving Money

My sister Emily is a coupon genius. She has an insane system that would take graphs and pictures for me to understand. She posted about saving a ton of money and stocking up on shampoo because so that she will never have to get government shampoo that smells like rat poison. It is hilareous you should read it.

I have made some savings of my own. I purchased a box of Kashi Go Lean Crunch and five boxes of their new cereal bars for a total of $2.00 (not including tax). I saved $19! All you have to do to enjoy the same savings is to go here and sign up to join the community. They send you samples of new products along with coupons.

Remembering the Savior

Devotional was amazing, it felt surreal to feel the spirit so strongly. About 15 minutes before devotional Elder Christofferson walked into the room and everyone stood in silence to honor his presence. The entire congregation sat in silence until devotional began. This was a record because there is a lot of socializing that goes on at devotional, as I am sure you can imagine because it is a room full of college students in the same age group.

The main message of his talk was that "Remembering the Savior obviously includes remembering His atonement which is sybolically represented by the bread and water as emblems of His suffering and death. we must never forget what he did for us for without his atonement and resurection life would have no meaning."

To this he had three points.
1. Seeking to know and follow His will
2. Recognizing and accepting our obligation to answer to christ for every thought word and action
3.Living with faith and without fear in the realization that we can always look to the Savior for the help we need
